01. total waiver of liability
the protocol is provided "as is"—without warranty, insurance, or mercy. 0.00 usd. that is the maximum amount for which deadhand, pyoneerC, or any contributor shall be liable in the event of failure.
you explicitly waive any right to claim damages for:
- loss of funds due to seed phrase mismanagement.
- premature shard release caused by user inactivity.
- delayed shard release due to network failures or server outages.
- any bug, known or unknown, in the shamir secret sharing (sss) implementation.
02. the burden of survival
this system is autonomous. the responsibility for maintaining the "heartbeat" rests entirely on your shoulders. if you ignore 30-day reminders, 60-day warnings, and 90-day final triggers, the protocol will fire.
we do not verify "death" manually. we verify "silence." if you go on a silent retreat and forget to reset your timer, your beneficiary gets shard c. that is a user error, not a system failure.
03. no financial mediation
deadhand is a technical utility, not a bank. we are not fiduciaries. we do not give financial advice. we do not give legal advice. inheritance is a complex legal field; if you want a lawyer, hire one. we provide math, not counsel.
04. protocol privacy
we do not want your profile. we store your email address and one encrypted shard. we do not sell your data. we do not track your location. the only data we have is the data required to reach you and your beneficiary. anything else is irrelevant to our function.
05. platform finality
we reserve the right to decommission this protocol at any time. in such an unlikely event, we will
attempt to provide 90-day notice via the fallback email. because we use open standards (bip-39 and
ssss), you can recover your seed using standard linux utilities like ssss-split without our
involvement. you are never a hostage; you are an independent operator.
06. jurisdictional reality
any dispute arising from or relating to the protocol shall be settled exclusively under the laws of argentina. by using this tool, you submit to this jurisdiction and waive any right to alternate legal venues.
07. indemnity clause
if you violate these terms or your actions lead to legal action against the protocol or its founder, you agree to indemnify and hold us harmless from any and all costs, including legal fees. in plain english: you pay for your mistakes and ours if you're the one that brought the heat.
